Weekend in Washington

I've been to Washington, DC, before, but the last time was for business meetings and really all I got to see was the inside of a conference room, and a whirlwind tour of the Washington monuments at night.

So last weekend, I enjoyed a nice four-day weekend with E. who is on temporary assignment up there. We planned quite a full weekend and really made the most of the time.

I travelled up on the Friday and we had a nice dinner in the evening. On Saturday, we went to the International Spy Museum which was great fun. When you go in, you get "briefed" and you have to choose your identity and remember key facts about your cover and your mission.. then at the end, you get debriefed and you have to answer questions about your cover and your mission. I passed with flying colors, LOL! The whole thing was extremely well done and very entertaining. If you go to Washington, I recommend it.

The whole city of Washington was absolutely teeming with Boy Scouts the weekend we were there. Apparently they were holding the National Boy Scout Jamboree close by and so the whole place was packed with Boy Scouts. I have never seen so many six foot, 250 lb Boy Scouts in my life!! These kids may all be under 18, but they completely dwarfed E. and I!

After the Spy Museum, we went to the Botanical Gardens. I love plants and gardening so that was a real treat for me. Plus I was able to show off my knowledge of plants to E. who admits he knows nothing about plants, but looks forward to learning when we get our own house and garden -- wherever we end up.

On the Saturday, we spent the whole day at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. I know that was going to be spectacular and I'm really glad I have finally been there!

I took over 80 pictures over the course of the weekend, mostly just for myself to remember the weekend, but I'll have to dig a couple out and post them :-)

Have a good one!
